Who do MedVisit doctors visit?

MedVisit is a service that arranges for a qualified medical doctor to come to your home. If you, your child or any member of your family is sick and needs a housecall, then MedVisit can help. MedVisit has been providing this important service to the community for more than 20 years. We have over 100 doctors who help provide this much needed care and attention to you and your family.

How do I arrange for a housecall?

Call MedVisit at 416-631-3000 in the Greater Toronto area, or 613-569-9944 in Ottawa and we will contact the doctor to come and see you or a member of your family in your home.

When will the doctor arrive? The doctor will try to get to you as soon as possible. Usually the doctor can be at your home within one to four hours of your call but can take longer. The time can vary depending on traffic and weather conditions as well as on the doctor's location. The doctor or his assistant will call you to give you a better idea of when they will arrive. It is best to call early in the day to help ensure that a doctor can come to see you. We are open to take calls at 8AM.

What happens after the visit? The doctor will diagnose your condition and prescribe any necessary treatment. The doctor will also advise you if you need a follow-up visit with your family doctor. For this purpose, a copy of your medical report is available on request from the housecall doctor.

How much does MedVisit or the doctor charge for the visit? There is no charge for the doctor to visit you at home. The fee is covered under your OHIP Health card number.
